I'm so stupid.

I've managed to lose my birth certificate.

According to the website, it will take ten days express to get my birth certificate, otherwise it's up to 6 weeks. I don't have ten days.

Now I can't get my stupid passport, can I?

So, this makes my last post redundant.

I'm not going to HK, am I?

Keep looking! Also, when are you due for Hong Kong? You really don't have ten days? :/

[identity profile] missski.livejournal.com 2008-11-29 06:07 am (UTC)(link)
17th of December.
In terms of days, I do have more than ten, however, not enough days because I need a birth certificate to get my passport, and the passport takes another 12 or so days, I think >:

And you really need that birth certificate? Can't they maybe give you a temporary passport with another kind of id? Or couldn't they maybe fax the certificate to the passport-people to hurry things up?

In any case I would try and beg and plead. In my experience the authorities can be really quick when they want to be. And begging and pleading sometimes works.

Damn. This would have been so me. Luckily I didn't need a birth certificate and luckily in Germany you can get a temporary passport which only takes a few days or else I would never have made it to Mongolia either.

Thanks for the advice :) I'll definitely ask about it when I go to the post office to get my passport forms on Monday. I was already annoyed when I found out I had to go to a post office, which are closed on the weekends here -.- I'm losing time that I desperately need!! I'll definitely beg and plead my case if I have to!

Turning the house upside down when I get home from work just in case though. Wish me luck!

[identity profile] junalele.livejournal.com 2008-11-29 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)
At the post office? Huh? That's random. Can't you get them online? Jeez. Gah. And I'm so keeping my fingers crossed. It might totally still turn up. I remember when my sister desperately searched for her birth certificate. I don't remember why but she was indeed desperate. And then called my parents if maybe it was still at our parents' house. My mother was all indignant, saying that no definetely not. In the end, the thing was buried at my parents. With the really important things. Heh. So - there is hope!

you can have 3 diff types of combos of ids (im getting one now and have application in front of me)

combination 1- one document from category A and on from B

combination 2 (if you cant provide 1)- two from catergory B and one official document that includes your photograph. if it does not also show current address you will also need one from category C

combination 3 (only if u cant provide 1 or 2)- at least 3 documents from category C and one official doc that includes photograph and siggy

note these documents must be no more than 12 months old

Cat A: current driving licence / birth card

Cat B: medicare card/ centrelink card/ department of veterans card/ credit card or account card issued by financial institution in aust

Cat C: motor vehicle registration or insurance papers/ property rates notice/ property lease agreement/ home insurance papers/ utilities bills/ bank statements
