Yes, I've heard about the bad points of sponsoring a child, as well as the scams, but I think it's okay as long as you do your research so that you choose the agency you donate it through wisely. As I'm not religious myself, I will not choose any agency affiliated with a Religion because even if they aren't exclusive to helping people who take up that specific Religion, or force it on to them, I just don't feel comfortable. I put a couple of hours into researching tonight, and for now I'd say I'd go with Plan, as they're not affiliated and I've heard good things about them. However, before I'd sign up, I'd definitely look deeper into the agency.

Do you happen to know which charity that was? :/ I'd like to make a note to avoid them.
